Survivors, families and friends of victims of violent crime are invited to attend the Tree of Angels Ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the San Diego Civic Center following a special Mass at St. Francis Catholic Church at 6:30 p.m. For the past nine years, Victims of Crime Assistance Program has sponsored the event.
Coordinator Pricilla Lane said, "this time of year is especially hard on those that have lost a loved one so we hope the service will help to bring healing and peace to them."
Each friend and family member is also asked to bring an angel ornament to be placed on the Christmas tree in honor of their lost loved one. A reception will be held immediately after the ceremony in the civic center. County Attorney Ricardo "Rocky" Carrillo is acting director of the program.
