Organizers are preparing for the 26th Annual "Alice - A Wonderland of Lights" Christmas parade and downtown lighting scheduled for Tuesday.

The theme for this year's parade is "A Child's Wish," and organizers are expecting more than 50 entries in the holiday parade.

In addition to the lighted floats, entries will include live music and an appearance by Santa Claus.

Awards will be given out for entries in several categories, including civic division, commercial division, most unique entry, performing bands, best out of town, youth division, performing units, school division and church division.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, and will follow a route from the baseball fields on North Cameron Street south to Main Street, where it will turn west and travel to Aransas Street.

The parade will stop momentarily at Heldt Park as city officials activate the Christmas lighting for downtown.
