Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob the Citgo Texas Star on Highway 281 about 9 p.m. Thursday.

"He got distracted and took off," said David Espinoza, an investigator with the police department.

According to police, a man with his face covered, wearing a long sleeve shirt, walked into the Texas Star store on the 1600 block of South Highway 281. He demanded money from the clerk and displayed what seemed to be a handgun inside his pocket. Police said after demanding money, he ran out of the store.

He fled in a white small truck that looked like an S-10, but he did not take any money, police said. He is described as average height. Police are questioning witnesses who said they saw possibly a handgun in the robber's pocket.

Police Thursday night searched the perimeter, but could not locate the suspect.

Police are in the process of reviewing the video surveillance to get a better description of the suspect.
