An Alice man suffered serious injuries resulting from an automobile accident involving a Texas Energy truck last Friday about 9:45 p.m. near Freer, according to official police reports.

Records show as Gordon Greentree, 71, was traveling west on Highway 44 about four miles out of Freer in a 1999 Toyota Avalon, he hit the back tire portion of a Texas Energy truck that had stopped in the westbound lane of traffic, reports show.

The driver of the truck, Joe Hinojosa, had been going east on Highway 44 and was attempting to turn left when the Toyota crashed into the truck's back right tire section, reports say.

Greentree was transported to Alice by ambulance and was later taken by HALO-Flight to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi.

Reports show Greentree was wearing a seat belt when the accident happened.

Hinojosa was cited for failure to yield-right-of-way and was reported to have no injuries, records say.

Responding to the scene were State DPS Troopers Izak Gallegos and Ronnie Ramirez.

Assisting were Freer police, Freer Volunteer Fire/EMS and Duval County Sheriff's Department.
