A familiar face can be seen across the counter at the H-E-B pharmacy, ready to fill individuals’ medications and give counseling.
That new face is Eudoxcio “Eddie” Morin, who has been a pharmacist for 33 years after graduating from the University of Texas in 1975.
“The opportunity came up and I was glad they asked me to come back to Alice,” said Morin, a resident of Alice for more than 30 years.
Morin recently was working in Falfurrias at Fred’s Pharmacy for about two and a half years. Before that he was a pharmacist at Wal-Mart for 18 years.
Being a longtime resident of Alice, Morin said he missed his Alice customers.
“The customers are very nice and I know a lot of them,” Morin said. “They made me feel welcome.”
The H-E-B Pharmacy drug store is open 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The pharmacy store is located inside the H-E-B at 1115 East Main Street.
Morin was recruited by H-E-B in July and began training with H-E-B. He started on the job in the latter part of August.
“It’s been an excellent move for me,” he said. “I’ve always heard good things about this company. They do take care of us.”
Morin is married to his wife, Gloria, and they have a daughter who lives in Corpus Christi and one granddaughter.
Morin said some of his duties as a pharmacist includes overseeing and double-checking that the medication goes to the right customer, counseling customers on the procedures and instructions of how the medications should be administered and filling the prescriptions.
He said being a successful pharmacist is having a team of technicians and staff to keep the customers happy.
“I have a great staff and excellent partner,” he said. “I’m back in Alice. I’m back at their service and I’m glad to be back.”
