Garcia named president, Bueno vice president, Gonzalez secretary

The Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco school board held a public hearing followed by a regular meeting to discuss a resolution regarding joint elections.
With no comments by the public, the board decided to approve the resolution of the board of trustees of the Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco school district for joint elections with the county.
"No one showed up to the public hearing," board member Danny Bueno said. "We will join the elections with the county. It's worked out and we will be current with the practice that has been mandated."
Bueno said the board would meet with the election administrator to prepare for the November 2008 elections.
In other business, the board was reorganized and Higinio Garcia is now the president, Bueno was elected vice-president and M. Wicho Gonzalez is secretary.
The board decided to disburse their 135 total votes for the nomination to the Appraisal District Board of directors for Jim Wells County for the 2008-2009 school year by giving 77 votes to Dr. Ruben Garcia, followed by 39 votes to Newell Atkinson, 10 to Javier Garcia and nine votes to David Guerrero.
The board also discussed a grade analysis report for the second six weeks and were presented a Direct Energy proposal for improving three campuses to save energy.
The scheduled date for school board team building session was set for Feb. 9.
