Alice ISD Board Trustees approved two applicants to fill open administrative positions at Alice High School and William Adams Middle School after going into closed session during a special meeting Tuesday night.
The board approved Jaime R. Huerta for the position of Dean of Instruction at AHS, after the resignation this summer of former dean Marie Dickson.
Huerta was one of 32 applicants who applied for AISD principal positions this summer.
Monica Olivera was also hired Tuesday for the position of assistant principal at WAMS.
Board president R. David Guerrero said the trustees will more than likely consider applicants for the other assistant principal position at WAMS at the next board meeting on Aug. 14.
The district will continue to use the list of applicants from the principal search earlier this summer to find candidates for the assistant principal position.
On July 5, trustees selected four new principals to fill vacancies in the district.
Patricia Garcia was selected principal of Schallert Elementary School, and Evey Guerra was approved as principal of Noonan Elementary School.
At the same time, former William Adams Middle School assistant principals Matthew Kralevich and Lucy Munoz were selected for head principal positions.
Munoz was moved up to principal at WAMS, while Kralevich was appointed principal at Memorial Intermediate School.
Huerta, a former AISD Spanish teacher, was both AHS teacher of the year and AISD Secondary level teacher of the 2005-2006 school year.
For the last year, he has served as principal at the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program Center for Brooks County ISD in Falfurrias.
