Ofelia Garcia Hunter, The Premont Journal
Premont held a special meeting Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the city hall and approved both items on the agenda.
The council approved line item one to pay bills for the City of Premont. The item had been tabled from the last meeting.
In the second item, the council approved for Iris Flores, city secretary, to attend the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center Judges' seminar in Austin. She will be attending from Dec. 2 to Dec. 7.
According to the TMCEC, the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center (TMCEC) has offered a variety of programs to meet the needs of the diverse constituency that the cities serve.
The seminar provides workshops for new judges and clerks, continuing judicial education programs for the experienced judges and personnel and special programs for magistrates and judges serving the low volume courts.
There are court management programs for court administrators and Level III assessment clinics for clerks who are seeking certification as a Certified Municipal Court Clerk. There are also programs for prosecutors and bailiffs/warrant officers who play important roles in the courts.
The next city council meeting is scheduled for Dec. 4.
Mayor Norma Tullos on Tuesday said that the clean up efforts for the city has gone well.
"The alleys look nice," she said. "Today (Tuesday), the maintainers will be going through the alleys to smooth it out and cover all the holes."
