On the Friday before Christmas, the Alice/Jim Wells County Task Force found some "snow" in Alice when they raided an apartment on the south side of town.

Lt. Joe Martinez, an investigator with the Alice/Jim Wells County Task Force, said the team executed a "no knock" search warrant on an apartment in the Guadalupe Hacienda apartment complex on Cecilia Street shortly after 11 a.m. Friday.

A search of the home reportedly revealed 5 grams of cocaine and assorted drug paraphernalia.

The raid was the result of a week-long undercover investigation, Martinez said.

A 17-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

His name was withheld by authorities Friday because bond had not yet been set on him.

Jim Wells County Sheriff Oscar Lopez and Alice Police Chief Danny Bueno both praised the officers for the joint operation Friday.

"We're working together with the City of Alice, Premont and Orange Grove in fighting crime, and it's paid off," Lopez said. "We'll continue to work together for the betterment of our community."

Bueno agreed and said both departments would continue conducting joint operations.

"This is another reason we have to keep working together combating drug use," Bueno said. "We're going to continue fighting against this throughout the new year."
