Fulfilling a dream was a success as the first Alice Wedding and Quince Fair was held Sunday, Oct. 7.

Belinda Galvan, co-owner of Platinum Events Decorating, had the fair in her heart for many years and this year she told her business partner, Jerry Martinez, they were having one for the community.

"It's been my dream for a long time to host a wedding fair. I've attended some in Corpus and have always felt that Alice would benefit from something (similar)," Galvan said. "We have such good vendors from cakes to decorators and photographers in our own town, and surrounding areas...Some people may not have a way to get (to Corpus Christi) or its just too far. I felt like I wanted to do this for local brides."

Together with more than 20 vendors from bakers, photography and decorating companies the show was a success, she said.

Wedding Lace put on a fashion show showcasing their bridal and quinceañera gowns.

"Having all these vendors under one roof helps everyone out," Galvan stated.

Platinum Events Decorating has been in business for 10 years, but this was their first show.

"We are already ready for next year," Galvan said.

During the fair, a raffle for two $1,000 cash prizes where held; one for a bride and one for a young lady having a quinceañera. Winner for the bridal cash prize was Ida Cortez and the quinceañera winner was Makayla Lopez.
