Donna Rogers Montemayor of San Antonio, formerly of Alice, received the William J. Sheffield Outstanding Alumnus Award from the University of Texas at Austin, College of Pharmacy on Sept. 29.

The William J. Sheffield award is the highest honor paid by the University of Texas at Austin, College of Pharmacy Alumni Association.  Each year it is awarded to recognize a particularly outstanding alumnus.

The criteria for this award are:

Must be a person who manifests an attitude of respect and compassion for mankind; Is a person who recognizes and reflects the importance of their education at the College of Pharmacy; Has demonstrated a continuing commitment of the University College of Pharmacy in any of the following ways: volunteering, teaching, philanthropy or perception; Is a person of such integrity, stature, demonstrated ability and renown that the faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the college will take pride in and be inspired by his/her recognition; and Is distinguished in his/her chosen profession or life work. Montemayor is Senior Director, Pharmacy for H-E-B in San Antonio, and oversees Pharmacy Professional Services, Marketing and Strategic initiatives for all H-E-B Pharmacies.

Additionally, she serves as a faculty practitioner at the UT-Austin College of Pharmacy as well as adjunct professor at the University of Incarnate Word School of Pharmacy, Texas Tech University School of Pharmacy and Texas A&M University College of Pharmacy.

She is a 1984 graduate of Alice High School and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, College of Pharmacy in 1988 with honors.

Montemayor is the daughter of George and Irma Rogers of San Diego, and daughter-in-law of Maria Antonia and Adolfo Montemayor Sr. of Alice.
