The annual National Night Out for Alice, Freer and San Diego community is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 2.

The event is designed to strengthen communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and law enforcement. The goal is to heighten crime-prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs.

The event, began in 1984, is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police and community partnerships.

There will be free food, games and music.
