Twenty-two-year-old Jose Soto of Freer was arrested Friday by Alice police following a threat at the Duval County Courthouse.

According to Duval County Sheriff Romeo Ramirez, Soto had an argument with his mother and had a knife in his possession. Soto made a comment that he was headed to the Sheriff's Office to "end it."

Unknown as to what Soto meant by his statement the entire courthouse was placed on lockdown and employees were released.

Law enforcement officers with the Sheriff's Office and San Diego Police Department were at the courthouse for precaution as Soto's whereabouts were unknown.

Law enforcement officers were notified that Soto was in Alice at a business on the 2000 block of Dr. NW Atkinson Boulevard.

Alice police took him into custody without incident and transported to the police department to await transport to the Duval County jail.

At this time, Soto will be charged with violation of a protective order. Other charges may be filed pending further investigation.
