BENAVIDES - A $149,060 was recently awarded to Benavides Independent School District by the Texas Workforce Commission.

The dual credit and career grant will be utilized by the district to purchase state-of-the-art equipment to provide students with an innovation welding program at Benavides High School.

Upon successful completion of this program, students at Benavides HS will have the opportunity to earn a Level 1 certificate through Coastal Bend College (CBC).

Items approved to purchase through the grant are a VRTEX Mobile Standard Frequency One-Pak and a VRTEX 360 Virtual Welder.

The VRTEX Mobile Standard Frequency One-Pak is an entry-level welding training system designed to provide mobility to students in an easy-to-use and engaging welding tool.

The VRTEX 360 Virtual Welder is a best-in-class advanced level welding training system designed to provide students a full-featured expandable platform in an easy-to-use and engaging welding training tool. Learning with this instrument gives students a one-of-a-kind training they cannot find anywhere else.
