Man arrested for stabbing

Henry Bernal was recently arrested for a stabbing. Police responded to the hospital in July for a man who had been stabbed in the shoulder. The victim told police he had taken his son to pick up his grandson at a residence on the 1000 block of South Adams when his son got into a fight. When the victim attempted to break up the fight a man, later identified as Bernal, stabbed him in the shoulder and punched him when he was on the ground. Bernal was taken to the Jim Wells County jail. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Car burglary suspect caught

On Sunday, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 500 block of East 8th Street in reference to a burglary of a vehicle. The initial officer was told that the victim had chased the suspect to a home on the 700 block of North Cameron. When police arrived the reporting party told them that his neighbor had seen Adam Gonzalez Jr. taking something from his work truck. When the reporting party went to confront Gonzalez he fled. Gonzalez was transported to the JWC jail. He was charged with burglary of a vehicle.

Evading arrest

Police were dispatched to the 400 block of South Wright Street for a burglary. When police arrived they observed two men fighting. Police tried to detain one of the men identified as Jesus Cardenas, but he pulled away and ran off. Police chased Cardenas into a vacant lot and tased him. Cardenas managed to remove the taser prongs and run off again. An assisting officer was able to catch him and while the two were on the ground Cardenas attempted to push the officer off him. With the assistance of a civilian, police were able to arrest Cardenas. Cardenas admitted to taking property from the home. Inside a vehicle near the house was a marble table and an air condition unit. Cardenas was taken to the JWC jail. He was charged with burglary of a building and evading arrest.
