ARANSAS COUNTY - Two men died Tuesday when an ambulance struck their vehicle a miles northwest of Aransas Pass.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating the two vehicle fatality crash that occurred at approximately 5:40 a.m. on State Highway 35.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2016 Nissan Sentra passenger car occupied by 36-year-old Jose Saucedo Torres and 62-year-old Saul Eleazar Saucedo, both of Edinburg were traveling west on Moore Avenue towards State Highway 35.
A 2017 Ford transit van ambulance occupied by the driver and one passenger were traveling north on the same highway. There were no patients in the ambulance.
According to DPS, Torres failed to yield the right of way at the stop intersection of Moore Avenue to the Ford ambulance. The ambulance struck the Nissan in the driver’s side door before both vehicles overturned multiples into the center median.
Torres and Saucedo were both pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash by Aransas County Justice of the Peace.
Driver and front seat passenger of the Ford ambulance were transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital in Corpus Christi with non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers are still investigating the crash.
