FALFURRIAS, Texas – On Tuesday, close to midnight, agents at the Falfurrias checkpoint arrested four United States citizens attempting to smuggle a five year old unaccompanied Mexican child through the checkpoint.

The driver and three other adult occupants used their biological United States citizen children in an attempt to smuggle the five year old unaccompanied Mexican girl using a birth certificate belonging to another U.S. citizen child.

Agents arrested all four adults and the three U.S. citizen minors accompanying the subjects were turned over to an uninvolved family member. The Mexican national child will be processed accordingly.

The case remains under investigation.

The Rio Grande Valley Sector currently has multiple campaigns focused on rescues and danger awareness, such as “Operation Big Rig” and “No Se Arriesgue” to combat smuggling and ultimately save lives. Call 911 to report suspicious activity; “They’re humans, not cargo!”
