An estimated $31,000 was raised by the Jim Wells and Duval County 4-H’ers on Tuesday as part of the 2018 annual South Texas Cattlemen’s Roundup.

4-H’ers from the two counties donated baked goods, handmade items, handmade items and more to be auctioned off at the Gulf Coast Livestock on South U.S. Highway 281.

Rogelio Mercado, Texas AgriLife Extension Agent, said 66 items were donated and auctioned off.

According to Mercado, the day's auction broke record numbers.

Some of the donated items brought in between $500 and $600 dollars. A Power Wheels truck was sold for $700. Cash donations were also left at the auction.

The proceeds from South Texas Cattlemen's Roundups go to Driscoll Children’s Hospital's Critical Care Transport and High Risk Program and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Angel Eye Program.
