Timing and Overview

Another hot day is expected across South Texas. The hot temperatures combined with the humidity will result in dangerous heat index values across the southern Coastal Bend. Heat index values today will be between 110 and 114 degrees this afternoon in Nueces and Kleberg counties. A heat advisory is in effect from 1pm until 7pm. Outside of the heat advisory area, heat index values between 105 and 109 degrees can be expected.

Impacts:

Increased potential for heat related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Heat stroke is a potentially fatal condition.

Residents with outdoor activities should take frequent breaks, wear light color clothing (including a cap), and drink plenty of non-alcoholic beverages, preferably water.
