FREER - A couple was arrested Thursday morning during a routine traffic stop on Highway 44.
According to Duval County Sheriff Officials, Agent Moe Saavedra with the Duval County Task Force conducted a traffic stop on a 2012 Nissan Altima and made contact with the 28-year-old driver, Ricardo Venegas Jr. and passenger Gina Garza, 35.
While conducting a roadside interview Agent Saavedra noticed Venegas was showing several signs of nervousness.
Duval County K-9 assisted in a search of the vehicle who alerted agents to the narcotics.
A systematic search of the vehicle led to the discovery and seizure of 2.8 grams of cocaine, oxycodone pills, ecstasy pills and drug paraphernalia.
Venegas and Garza were transported to the Duval County jail. They were booked on charges of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
