For three years in a roll Alice police officer, Lt. Hector Zertuche Jr., has won the Readers’ Choice award for best city employee.

“Thanks to all the people that voted for me. It is an honor to be selected as Readers’ Choice winner for three years in a row,” Zertuche said. “There were many other people that could have been given the award. We all have equal qualities for the prestige award."

Zertuche has been with the Alice Police Department since December of 1989. He has worked himself up the ladder as a patrol officer, corporal, sergeant and now lieutenant.

Besides earning his peace officers license, he had advance and master's license along with field training supervisor, training advisory committee member, advanced traffic accident investigator and background investigator.

Zertuche is a graduate of Alice High School Class of 1986 and graduate of Del Mar College 1989 with associate's degree in Criminal Justice.
