Local high school students participated in the 2017 – 2018 Coastal Bend Blood Center's High School Hero Challenge.

The year-long competition separates high schools based on size and encourages them to collect the highest number of blood donations for the division.

There were 235 blood drives at 53 schools in the Coastal Bend area.
