Police believe that a road rage Sunday could have been much worse than it turned out to be.

According to the police report, the victims were traveling south on North Highway 281 in a red Fiat behind a black Dodge Durango and a red Chevy Cruz when the occupants in the Durango and Cruz began to throw trash at each other.

The driver of the Fiat confronted the driver of the Durango who got irate and began yelling at him.

According to the police report, the driver of the Durango along with two other vehicles began to chase the driver of the Fiat as he entered the city limits. The victim attempted to lose the other vehicles.

When the driver of the Fiat stopped at the intersection of Walnut and West Main a male passenger of the Durango fired approximately five to six rounds at the vehicle, according to the police report.

None of the occupants of the Fiat were hit by the bullets. However, a bullet hit the driver's side front tire.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is encouraged to call police at 361-664-0186.
