On Wednesday, Jim Wells County Sheriff investigators received a call from Corpus Christi police about a stolen Kubota excavator that they believed was in the area.
Deputies went to the Alfred area and located the excavator which was being used to dig holes for a septic tank.
According to investigators, the company using the stolen property had rented it for another individual. All employees cooperated with investigators.
Investigators recovered the $20,000 piece of equipment. They are know working with CCPD in the investigation in the attempt to find other stolen property and to make an arrest in this case.
According to Lt. Alan Gonzalez, the department has recovered just shy of a million dollars of stolen property just this year by networking with surrounding agencies.
