On Monday officers with the Jim Wells County Interdiction team arrested a 71-year-old man who was traveling north on Highway 281 near County Road 480.

During the traffic stop the interdiction officer asked the driver to exit the vehicle. During the roadside interview the officer patted down the suspect and located a bulge in the suspect's waistline.

According to investigators, the suspect was concealing a bundle of cocaine in his waistband.

The interdiction officer arrested the man and impounded the passenger car. After further investigation the suspect was taken into federal custody.

The bundle was valued at $25,000.
