Before the six new Alice police officers can patrol the streets of Alice they must be trained by the department. They have already began their intense training with Training Coordinator Sgt. Aniceto Perez.

On Tuesday, the new officers; Officer Aaron Kyle Frazier, Officer Jon Carlo Jaramillo, Officer Bianca Mitchell, Officer David Ray Moya, Officer Eleocadio Reyna III; jumped into the clear blue water of the 11-foot pool at the City of Alice Multi-Use Complex.

The group of officers and Perez discussed various scenarios that they may face such as a drowning, floods, or if a vehicle is submerged in a body of water. Perez trained the officers on how to use ropes and other floatation devices that could help them save a person's life.
