Registered voters in Duval and Jim Wells County hit the polls on Tuesday for Election Day to cast their ballots. Several incumbents lost their positions, while others kept their seats. 

One of the nights big races in JWC was for County Judge between Incumbent Pete Trevino Jr. and Juan Rodriguez Jr. Rodriguez won the race with 2,904 votes (51.33 percent) over Trevino's 2,754 votes (48.67 percent).

"We worked hard," Rodriguez said. "The campaign was extremely hard work. Family and friends understood how important the social issues we were facing in the election...I look forward to working hard by fulfilling and addressing all issues."  

Another big race was for County Clerk. Incumbent JC Perez received 3,716 votes (69.78 percent) with Pete Beltran's 1,609 votes (30.22 percent).

"It was a good clean race. The voters spoke out loud," Perez stated. "My staff and myself worked hard and it shows. I thank all voters who supported me."
