SAN DIEGO - Kayla Castillo earned first place in the San Diego Rotary Club's Four-Way Speech Tuesday.

Castillo was one of three contestants who competed for the chance to win a $250 college scholarship.

Each student gave their speech that implemented the four rotary questions: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Castillo, a senior at San Diego High School, focused her speech on her experience with the American Medical System.

Second place and a $100 scholarship went to Adrian Garza, senior at San Diego HS, for his speech on the dual enrollment high school program. Third place and a $50 scholarship went to Kathleen Saenz, a senior at San Diego HS, for her speech on the depression and its effects.

Castillo will move on the compete in the Area Rotary District Speech Contest on March 25 in San Diego. She will have a chance to win additional scholarships.
