San Diego - Once again the San Diego Independent School District School Board decided to extend the district's superintendent contract.

Dr. Samuel Bueno's contract was extended for two more years. He has been superintendent in 2013.

"I'm very pleased that the board has extended my contract for two years. I'm currently in my fifth year as Superintendent of SDISD and very proud of the work that has been accomplished," Bueno stated. "I'm blessed to work with a school board that is very focused on student success and on moving the district forward. We have amazing students, teachers, parents and admin that make San Diego a wonderful place to work!"

Bueno has worked in the district for approximately 18 years total. He started his career at Harlandale Independent School District in San Antonio where he taught for two years and went on to teach at Salazar Elementary in Alice for four years. Bueno then moved to San Diego where he was campus principal at all three schools in the district.

Bueno received his bachelors degree from Southern Illinois University and his masters and doctorate degree from Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
