Students from several districts in the area gathered at Alice High School for Spectacular Saturday to brush up on their Destination Imagination (DI) Instant Challenge skills.

The purpose of Spectacular Saturday is to have teams prepare themselves for the challenges to come during regional competition.

DI is an educational program where students solve open-ended challenges with creativity, academic skills and team work in coordination with the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math curriculum taught to students.

The students went to several classes to perform instant challenges. On some challenges students were asked to perform and others were task based. After each challenge, the appraiser gave the teams advise on how to work more effectively as a team.

Students are preparing for the upcoming regional tournament on Feb. 24 hosted in Corpus Christi.
