Brothers were arrested Monday after a foot pursuit with officers. The brothers are believed to be connected with several vehicle burglaries that occurred over the weekend.

Police were dispatched to a vacant home on the 600 block of East Sixth Street in reference to suspicious subjects.

According to Sgt. Enrique Saenz, police entered the vacant home through the back door, and observed Tommy Monsevais and his teenage brother exiting a room. The suspects took off as the initial officer chased them giving orders to stop.

Monsevais was arrested and transported to the Jim Wells County jail. The juvenile was taken to a juvenile facility in San Diego.

As officers secured the vacant home they located three bikes, more than 15 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, cash, jewelry, a firearm with a loaded magazine and much more.

The suspects were charged with burglary of a building, theft of a firearm, theft and possession of marijuana in a Drug-Free Zone within a 1,000 feet of a school. The possession of marijuana charge will be enhanced because of the location being close to a school.

Police want to remind people to be vigilant, report any suspicious activity and always lock vehicle doors.

Anyone who has been the victim of a theft is asked to contact police at 361-664-0186.
