To start off the New Year, Salazar Elementary thanks the Alice community, friends and family from out of town for a huge success of their first Winter Book Drive.

The goal was to have books purchased for each one of the students at Salazar Elementary, along with the involvement of our community. With a total enrollment of 257 students, the only had five days to achieve the goal.

With the help of the Alice community, family and friends, they were able to meet the goal in just four days.

"We cannot thank you enough for gifting a book to our students and supporting the importance of reading," said campus staff.

The books were individually wrapped and passed out to the students. Students were told how the community came together by purchasing the books from their wish list.

According to the staff, students were very grateful and unwrapped their books with excitement, and quickly began to read.

This could not have been made possible without everyone coming together as a community and supporting the students and staff at Salazar.
