LIVE OAK COUNTY - At approximately 10:34 p.m. Wednesday a one vehicle crash claimed the life of a 55-year-old Orange Grove man.

Troopers are investigating the crash that occurred on Farm-to-Market 3162, approximately seven miles north of Sandia, claiming the life of Jesus Abrego, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Department of Public Safety Trooper Sgt. Nathan Brandley, the preliminary investigation revealed that a 2002 Jeep Liberty (occupied by the driver and passenger) was traveling north on FM 3162 and entered a curve at an unsafe speed, causing the driver to go off the roadway and attempted to overcorrect causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times. 

Neither driver or passenger were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash and both were ejected from the vehicle. 

The driver of the vehicle was transported by Halo Flight to Spohn Shoreline in Corpus Christi with serious injuries. 

Troopers are further investigating the crash at this time.
