While sitting in a jail cell, Jason Cantu,31, was charged with two additional charges by the Alice Police Department.

In November, a local car dealership contact police in reference to tires and rims that had been taken from a 2018 GMC Sierra. The vehicle was left sitting on the ground.

According to the reporting party, an unknown person clipped the fence and entered the lot. Other damages to the vehicle were reported.

Through the investigation, police received an anonymous tip. The tipster told police Cantu was behind the theft. Police were able to track down a residence in Falfurrias where the stolen items were allegedly dropped off.

After to speaking to the home owner police were able to determine the location of the tires and rims. They were recovered and returned to the car dealership.

Cantu was charged with theft over $2,500 and criminal mischief. He is non-bondable, according to the Jim Wells County jail.

His other charges include unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest with previous convictions, burglary of a habitation with intent to commit other felony, terroristic threat and evading arrest with a motor vehicle with previous convictions.
