The last time South Texas residents saw snow fall in the area was Dec. 24, 2004. Thirteen years later, the white fluffy substance will cover Veterans Park giving families a chance to make memories in the snow.

On Thursday, Dec. 7, Alice Echo News Journal is hosting the Alice Winter Wonderland sponsored by Thomas J. Henry’s Law Firm that features real snow for the everyone to partake.

The event is free to everyone from 6:30 p.m. till 10:30 p.m. The park is located on Alto Street.

“This is the first time ever the Veterans Park will be lit up with Christmas lights,” said Russel Gruber. “I approached the city and Diana Lopez with the idea. We are joining (the Alice Chamber of Commerce's) 12 Days of Christmas…but the main thing is for families to come out and create memories.”

A total of four sections will be marked to divid children and adults by ages. Snow slides will be available for children and adults. The snow slide for adults is expected to be between 30 and 40 feet long.

Families have a chance to build snowmen, snow angels or just roll around in the snow as the Alice High School Band will provide live entertainment.
