Jim Wells County Sheriff's K9 Deputy Senna was officially retired from law enforcement after being instrumental in the seizure of drugs and money for nine years.

Senna was placed with her former handler Deputy George Dominguez and his family to spend the rest of her days relaxing with her forever family.

The K9 Deputy was approximately 70 years old in human years, according to Sheriff Daniel Bueno.

"She's been a great asset to the department," he said.

Senna worked with the department from 2008 to Nov. 2017. Over the years, she seized 700 pounds of marijuana, 25 pounds of methamphetamine, 15 pounds of cocaine, 26 pounds of heroin and approximately $1.5 million dollars in cash as part of the drug interdiction team.
