Schallert Elementary hosted a children's author visit on Wednesday. Jacqueline Davies, author of The Lemonade War Series, came to speak with fourth graders about being a writer.

Mary R. Garcia, Salazar, and Saenz Elementary fourth grade students attended a session with the author as well. Davies spoke about her passion for writing and the struggles she had in becoming a published writer.

This was a great opportunity for Alice ISD students to meet a real-life author and learn about what it takes to be a writer, said campus officials.

The students were able to ask Davies questions about her life as an author and had the opportunity to purchase her books with her autograph. Fourth grade students are required to take the Writing STAAR test in April 2018 making this a unique opportunity for students and teachers to hear from a published author, and they enjoyed the presentation.
