Five kilos of pure cocaine were confiscated during a recent traffic stop on Highway 281.
The Jim Wells County Interdiction Officer was patrolling the highway when he conducted a traffic stop on a gray pickup truck traveling north.
A search of the vehicle with the K9 deputy located four tightly sealed bundles of cocaine. Each bundles weighed 10 and a half to 11 pounds.
According to sheriff officials, each bundle has a street value of $17,000.
Rodrick Valdez of McAllen was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
He was released on a $15,000 bond.
