Local residents braved the rain Tuesday for a chance at some fun at the annual National Night Out. Alice, Ben Bolt, Freer and San Diego had fun, games and treats for children and adults who attended the festivities.

National Night Out is a way for neighbors to become acquainted with law enforcement officers in their area. It gives everyone a chance to get to know first responders, who serve and protect our communities, as well as city and county leaders.

NNO began in 1984, as an annual community-building campaign that promotes police and community partnerships.

A fun way for the whole community to be safer and stronger. National Night Out founder Matt Peskin believed that raising the profile of citizen-based crime watch programs would bring greater safety to neighborhoods.
