What was the best advice you ever received? Who gave the advice?
Whenever I was in my freshman year, my world geography teacher was named Coach Carrillo. There was one time where he gave us a lecture and it was mainly about the passing of time. He wrote some numbers on the board, which were just one through eighteen, and stated that those specific years pass by fast. He then proceeded to write eighteen plus and finished off by saying that these years pass by even faster. Those words have really stuck with me even with about four years passing, mainly because this past few years have gone by fast and I’m steadily approaching 18 years of age and wonder how the rest of my life is going to play out.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully in five years I would have already achieved my bachelor’s in both neuroscience and biomedical engineering, having a stable job to earn some income and start working on my master’s on one or both of my majors.
If you could change anything about this world, what would it be and why?
In most recent years the boundaries of free speech have been challenged. People can be ousted for simply stating their opinion and maybe even attacked, you can check out the events at Berkeley if you want an example. What I want to change about that is people lashing out violently at others for just having a different opinion than yourself. As for why I’ll simply quote Evelyn Beatrice Hall “I may not like what you say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.”
If you could invite 3 people to dinner, who would they be and why?
I would invite Quentin Tarantino because I absolutely love his movies and would be excited to talk to him about it , Morgan Freeman because having a conversation over dinner with him seems like the time of my life, and Leonardo DiCaprio because of his wonderful work as an actor and he seems like a really cool dude.
