Alice Memorial Post 8621 Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8621 assembled Friday to recognize the men and women who went overseas to fight for the country and never returned.

The third Friday of September is the United States' Prisoners of War/ Missing In Action (POW/MIA) Recognition Day and is observed across the nation.

“We must not forget the sacrifices these comrades are still making and the suffering they are still enduring for us us and our way of life,” said Post 8621 Commander Hector Villarreal. “They must remain alive in our minds and hearts until we know they have returned home to their loved ones or have been called to the bosom of Our Heavenly Father. We must continue to give moral support to their families who continue to suffer with them.”

Wreaths were presented at three monuments, Vietnam Monument, World War II Monument and the Post Monument, around Alice by the Alice Memorial Post 8621 and the Ladies Auxiliary.
