PREMONT – On Saturday, Premont police responded to a disturbance call at convenience store where they located a couple who had narcotics and cash inside their vehicle.

When officers responded they found a highly intoxicated woman, Irene Mendietta inside the store. Upon further investigation, the officer learned that Mendietta's boyfriend, Al-Amin Patwary and her child were waiting in the parking lot, according to officials.

Officers approached the vehicle were Patwary and the child were they discovered the drugs, cash and drug paraphernalia.

Mendietta and Patwary were taken into custody. They were taken to the Jim Wells County jail.

The child was released to a family member.

A search of Mendietta at the jail lead to the discovery of a bag of Xanax bars.

The couple was charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and endangerment of a child. Mendietta was also charged with prohibited substance in a correctional facility.
