Dennis Donald Hunter, 63, passed away peacefully with his son by his side after battling an illness. He was born on July 27, 1954 and died on September 12, 2017.

He was an avid golfer and former member of Pan American Golf Association, loved any sport, especially football and baseball. He attended Catholic Schools in Michigan and graduated in 1971. Dennis served in the United States Air Force in the early 70s as a communication specialist. He was a registered Chippewa tribe member in Michigan.

He attended Texas A&M University – Kingsville and studied Kinesiology. He coached several little league baseball teams in Alice, was a referee and umpire for high school basketball and softball, and played in many fast-pitch softball leagues in Michigan, Corpus Christi and San Antonio.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Hunter in 2011.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ofelia Garcia Hunter, son Jeremy Ryan Hunter of Alice, Texas two daughters, Erin (Benjamin) O'Neil of Needville, Texas and Leah Hunter of San Antonio, Texas, his parents, Glen and Sharon Hunter of Lake Alfred, Florida and his siblings, Glen Hunter Jr. of Michigan, Tony Hunter of Lake Alfred, Florida, Kimberly Hunter of Michigan, Keri Hunter of Lake Alfred, Florida and Scott Hunter of Lake Alfred, Florida, sister-in-law Odilia G. Hinojosa of Alice, Texas; and four grandchildren, Liam Hunter O'Neil, Keely Shea O'Neil, Eian Reid O'Neil and Penny Everly Moreno and numerous nieces and nephews.

Military honors will begin at 10:40 a.m. with a Memorial Service by Fr. Pete Elizardo at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Trevino Funeral Home Chapel. Viewing starts at 10 a.m. Reception to follow service at St. Joseph Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, please donate to United Veterans Burial Association.
