An elderly gentleman caused a two-vehicle accident Wednesday when he failed to stop at a stop sign, according to Department of Public Safety Trooper on the scene.
Alice firefighters used the jaws of life to remove the elderly gentleman from his Buick Encore.
According to DPS, the elderly gentleman was traveling east on Farm-to-Market 1930 when he disregarded the stop sign and collided with a black Mercury Mariner who was traveling north on South Business Highway 281. Inside the Mariner were two occupants.
The female driver of the Mariner was walking around and on her cell phone before paramedics transported her to the local hospital. Her male passenger was immediately checked by paramedics on the scene and also transported to the hospital. The elderly gentleman was also take to the hospital.
Injuries are unknown at this time.
A citation was issued to the elderly gentleman for disregarding the stop sign.
