Alice ISD’s 2017-18 school year isn't beginning as scheduled on Monday because of Hurricane Harvey.

Alice school superintendent Dr. Alma Charles announced Friday afternoon that the school district is scheduled to be closed Monday.

The announcement was also posted on the school’s website.

The posted state, “From Dr. Alma Charles, Superintendent of Schools. Due to the current situation with Hurricane Harvey, the Alice Independent School District will be closed on Monday. Stay safe.”

Other schools also having classes like St. Joseph and St. Elizabeth Catholic School canceled classes for Friday. They also announced on their websites that they plan on announcing plans for Monday this weekend.

Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco ISD announced that the start classes on Monday will be delayed two hours, and in Orange Grove, the school suspended activities through Sunday. The district plans to evaluate if classes resume on Monday.
