A Facebook post about the Alice Animal Shelter is making its way around social media as the city, along with the rest of South Texas, prepares for a Hurricane.

The Facebook post states:

Prayers to all shelters in the path of the storm. Alice Tx shelters will be euthanizing their animals because no one will be there during the storm. If anyone can take an animal before it (is too) late. God bless!

According to Alice Police Department's Lt. Luis Barrera, the post is "absolutely not true! We have ACOs (Animal Control Officers) taking care of the animals we have. The animal shelter has stopped taking in animals. We are keeping the ones we have. We are not going to euthanize because of (the) storm. We will feed and clean kennels everyday of the storm."

Due to Hurricane Harvey, the animal shelter is closed to the public until further notice.
