A 22-year-old Alice man lost his life after a single vehicle rollover accident east of San Diego on Highway 44 near County Road 625 Saturday at approximately 1:30 a.m.

Nicolas Garza was traveling west on Highway 44 in his red Chevy S10 when for unknown reasons he veered to the right of the road and struck the guard rail. Garza's vehicle flipped and came to rest on the truck's roof.

According to Department of Public Safety officials, Garza, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.

DPS is uncertain if alcohol was a factor in the accident. Garza's body was sent to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

Assisting in the accident was Alice Fire Department and the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Department.
