Jim Wells County deputies raided two homes Thursday that seized heroin, synthetic marijuana, a powder-substance of cocaine and heroin mixture, and cocaine. The raids landed two men behind bars.
Vela Street Raid
Guillermo Cavazos Jr. was arrested after deputies searched his home on the 1100 block of Vela Street. During the search, deputies located 5.9 grams of pure cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Cavazos was charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance. Deputies were assisted by the Alice Police Department.
Gulf Street Raid
At a residence on the 1400 block of Gulf Street deputies seized 30 packs of black tar heroin, 0.41 ounces of synthetic marijuana and 1.8 grams of cocaine and heroin powder mixture known as “speed balls.” The JWC Sheriff's Criminal Investigation Division and SWAT team, along with the Alice Police Department arrived at the residence and immediately detained Enrique Ramirez. Ramirez was arrested and charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Law enforcement officers also seized surveillance cameras. The case is under investigation and further arrests pending.
