Each year Alice ISD and its food and nutrition partner Aramark partner with the Texas Department of Agriculture in offering the Seamless Summer Option feeding program.
The program allows the district to provide free breakfast and free lunch to children up to the age of 18 during the summer months.
The month of June has been a success, the district provided over 20,000 meals to the children in the community, according to school officials.
The district also provides meals to the Alice Boys and Girls Club, Heritage Housing Community and Rancho Alegre Youth Center.
The goal of Alice ISD is to continue to provide nutritious meals especially for the children who rely on school meals during the academic year, these meals offer a source of good nutrition when school is out for the long summer vacation.
