Alice police are searching for the suspect(s) involved in the theft of copper from a construction site on the 800 block of Coyote Trail. On Tuesday, a report was made with police that sometime in the late night or early morning hours someone entered the property and took two yellow electrical boxes, two connectors and about 260 feet of electrical copper wiring. The stolen items were valued at more than $4,800. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call 361-664-0186.
Cassandra Canales was arrested Tuesday for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Officers responded to the 200 block of Garcia Street to meet with a man who claimed that Canales approached him asking for a ride and than stole the car. The victim agreed to give Canales a ride to a residence in the county, but made a stop at a convenience store. While the victim was inside the store Canales took off in his vehicle. Canales was found, arrested and transported to the Jim Wells County jail.
On Saturday, while on patrol Officer Brandon Reynolds was dispatched to the 900 block of West Farm for a suspicious person who appeared intoxicated. Officers located a man who fit the description of the suspicious person on the porch of a home. As the officer approached the man, later identified as Mark Esparza, he threw something off the porch. The officer detected an odor of synthetic marijuana. Esparza was detained as the officer searched the area and located a synthetic marijuana cigarette. Esparza was arrested and transported to the JWC jail.
